Once Knitted
What was once a livelihood that ensured a decent standard of living and quality of life for many women is now a hobby that inspires great enthusiasm.
In my work, I reflect on what defined the origins of knitting as a craft, how traditions have been preserved to this day, and how the lifespan of a garment brings a piece of history back into the present.
Aurora
This was my first attempt on knitting a Lopapeysa (traditional Icelandic sweater) and overall my first attempt of knitting in general.
I wanted to create a lasting piece of clothing that captures the hunt for Aurora as I experienced in Iceland 2026.
This project turned out just perfect and with that, my passion for knitting was born and my hands never still ever since.
Magnitude
My second sweater should capture an alignment of proportions – small dots combined with larger ones. I got inspired by amazing sunrises that start slow and turn into a massive sensation when the pink and yellow from the sky meets the frosty white snow and blue from the ocean water from the Icelandic coast.
Every element in its magnitude to the other creating magnificence.
